Top Selling Disc Golf Discs of 2022 As 2022 wraps up, we can look back at our most popular selling disc golf discs and see if there is any overlap in what makes for a good/popular disc for the future. I will be touching on the top selling discs from each major company that we sell. This list is to show the highest selling disc of each company. #8 - Infinite Discs, Emperor- Speed 12, Glide 5, Turn -1, Fade 2.5 Very similar to a Destroyer or Zeus this max distance driver offers a bit more control at high speed then a true 12 speed. A lot of players say this disc flies between a Wraith and Destroyer and offers the best of both worlds. Want a max speed throw without the drawbacks of a max speed rim? Look no further than the Infinite Disc Emperor.
This hybrid catch was a personal surprise to all of us here at Gem Discs. We love ourselves a silly disc with a bunch of glide but did not think it would be so high up on our end of the year list. The high speed stability for a 1 speed intrigued a lot of players and the deep rim gave a reliable ground play for those touch approach shots. These only came in lower weights, around 145g but gave the same consistent shot shape regardless of the lower weight.

With those flight numbers the Latitude River offers that to a lot of players. Its fairway speed means a novice player or pro level player can throw a smooth controlled shot and get a straight shot that stays in the air and pushes down the fairway.

Their first response would be either “Disc of the year” or “Wow…… who makes that?” This disc is a torque resistant fairway that you can hammer on with a backhand and get the prettiest flip and ride in the game. This is that disc that makes you wonder why you even have 12 speeds in your bag, because this disc goes just as far as those. Those who know, know ;-)

TSA had a bunch of new popular discs drop this year that were incredible like the Construct and Mana. I was surprised that the Muse, which is a baseline putter, was the highest selling and most popular disc from TSA. However, the plastic is grippy and soft and the beadless putter offers a reliable putter release out of the hand. Off the tee, these beat into a straight shooter that is a point and shoot putter for anything under 250ft.
#3 Prodigy Discs - Falcor - Speed 13, Glide 6, Turn -1, Fade 2 Prodigy Discs has been trying to make a Destroyer type disc, the D2 is very similar, but the Falcor offers that high glide, maximum push disc for max distance shots. A lot of the pros are reaching for the 500 plastic Falcors for a bit more of a reliable, max distance shot. The 400 Plastic Falcors for sure beat up quicker and can offer those Hyzer flip shots.

So last January when we were able to order as many Cap Raps as we wanted, we went a little silly. But still, this disc was a very popular disc in comparison to all the others on our list. This modified Raptor offers a higher level of stability for really high wind days, or large skip shots. This may never be your farthest flying disc in your bag but the utility and reliability that this disc offers will make you wish you took it off your shelf and put it in the bag for that round.
#1 Discmania Discs - Mindbender, Metal Flake MD1 - Speed 5, Glide 6, Turn 0, Fade 0 This is hands down the best disc that Discmania has released in the past two years since switching to producing its own discs. The FD and DD3 as well as the Sky God were all in the top 10 of highest selling discs for Gem Discs in 2022 but were not even close to touching the disc that the Mindbender is. To make a dead straight disc go whatever angle you put it on and hold it until it hits the ground is rare (almost the most rare disc on the market). On top of that, Discmania also released this disc in a soft, grippy and durable Metal Flake C Line Plastic. I have seen pro level arms throw this disc on a rope over 350 ft, and brand new players get the longest throws of their life because it wastes no energy moving right or left, and just pushes dead straight the whole time. If you do not own one of these, get one! Because I’m not sure how many there will be left in a little bit. Once someone throws this disc it becomes apparent the possibilities of what the disc can do, and that person the next day generally buys a backup because there is not anything else like it to replace it currently on the market.

They all have one word that relates to all of them whether it's a 12 speed or a 1 speed which are as different as they come: Reliability! The Glitch is a reliable disc for approach shots, high torque resistance, and a repeatable ground play. The Emperor is a reliable distance disc that is controllable like a Wraith with the distance of a Destroyer. When it comes to disc golf no one really cares how far discs can go if they are unable to repeat the shot. At the end of the day this is a game of golf, being in the fairway and on the green are PREMIUM. No one cares if you can throw 600 feet if you are 20 feet in a bush after every throw. Having the same consistent flight and ground play from every throw will make you have a lower score at the end of the round and keep you coming back to the course. Don’t get me wrong, you cannot just buy your way to a lower score, but having a disc that you can lean on will 100 percent help you. Do you want to be better at disc golf? Then make sure you at least have a couple of the discs above, reliable molds that you know will keep you in the fairway. 🙂
